The morning after the celebration has the party making final arrangements with Thane Everbright. The party negotiates winter gear from Thane to prepare for their journey north. They set out on a 8 day walk through friendly lands, deciding to bypass towns and cities along the way. While the winter has been, snow flurries are seen for the first time this year.

Arriving on the first Sunday of the month of Fireseek they are welcomed by Thane into his home. Thane describes the surrounding areas to the north that goblin and orcs have been seen recently. While the Pact of Greyhawk left this area near the Vesve Forest undefined to a ruler, Thane feels that he and his collegues can bring the destroyed town back to the stature that it once held.

Thane directs the group to Hendrik Blane at the Heroes Rest Inn for lodging arrangements, a hot meal and to resupply their rations. Hendrik, owner of the Inn and Captain of the Tusham Militia, tells stories of goblin and orc attacks which have occurred in the area since the last war. He then explains, that over the past 2 months, better armed advesaries have tested their defenses and more evidence is being found of their growing presence by the Militia Rangers.

Graduation Day

The day begins with the graduation ceremonies at the Academy of Higher Learning. After the 40 graduates are recognized for their acheivements a small group heads to the Field of Honor to compete in the Exhibition of Enlightenment.

Our adventurers compete in 10 events in the first annual Exhibition of Enlightenment. The Champion, Gnarkill won the competition with 36 total points with Omega and Abominod both placing in second with 30 points.

All participants were awarded 200 gp from the competition sponsors. Winners of the individual events were awarded 100 xp and 100 gp per event and Gnarkill was also awarded an additional 250 gp and a magic rapier +1.

The adventurers head to the Heroes Rest Inn for a celebration hosted by the sponsors. Once there they encounter representatives from the Military, Merchant Guilds, Grand Temple of Pelor, Baroness of Kalinstran and Thane Everbright a former noble. They discuss their many options and decide to help support Thane’s request to aid in exploring the surrounding area of the resettlement of Tusham. The party will set out for the settlement tomorrow and begin exploring the surrounding areas.

Field of honor

The time is New Years Day, Common Year 595 in the City of Chendl. Chendl, the capital of the Kingdom of Furyondy, is alive the Winter’s night with song and spirit, hoping for better days in the coming year. You and 39 others have even more reason to celebrate this evening. Today the group has graduated from the Academy of Higher Learning with a year of scholarship, honing and developing basic skills that ready you for the challenges of these uneasy times.

Some of the class has one last test after graduation known as the Exhibition of Enlightenment. The contestants will compete against each other at the Field of Honor in events challenging their skills today. The overall winner and top performers in each event are awarded wheatsheafs and items from sponsors including the King, nobles, merchants and members of academia.

Later tonight graduates will make their final decisions whether to join the King’s military, become mercenaries, look to assist their religion, practice arcana, start a profession or become an explorer? No matter which paths are taken there will always be a strong bond amongst the class from their teachings and time together at the Academy.
